The Sussex Film Festival is an annual competition of films and videos made by people
without professional resources. They may be members of clubs in Sussex and the Channel
Islands or just groups and individuals living in this area.
The Festival is held
in early October each year in Mid Sussex, and is open to members of the public to
come along and view the movies on the big screen. A panel usually consisting of representatives
of radio, television, cinema, press or award winning amateur filmmakers will judge
the entrants’ work. Various trophies are awarded for most aspects of filmmaking.
The previous Festival was held on Sunday 8th October 2006 at Wivelsfield Village
Hall, Wivelsfield Green, East Sussex. Click on Festival Winners to see the awards
made then.
The Festival helps fund the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers, more usually known
as the IAC or the Film and Video Institute (FVI) which provides help and support
to amateur film, video, and slide / AV users the world over. Services include copyright
clearance for music used on soundtracks, help and advice on obtaining background
music, a library of amateur movies, a tape lecture service and national and international
competitions. The IAC may be contacted at:-
